Overcooked?

I went on my first ever photography workshop in Dubai last year. It was a "landscape" workshop with David Nightingale (www.chromasia.com) . It was a bit odd, a dozen photographers descended on the beach and started snapping away. Dubai 'aint Blackpool, so no moody overcast skies, just hot haze. I wandered over to the nearby fisherman's hangout. The final session was on the computers - lots of post-processing, more than normal for my workflow. Are the results a tad overcooked?

Went to a charity polo match a couple of weeks ago on the outskirts of Dubai. Cranes still visible as they build another -city. The first match was with camels, which tend to go where they please. The polo games with the horses were v. impressive, great horses...

Sana'a

In the last Eid holiday I spent a few days in Yemen. Here are some shots from the capital city Sana'a. All the city-scape shots were taken from the roof of the hotel. Eid wasn't an ideal time to go as most of the markets were closed, but then all the Yemenis were dressed to visit family & friends (and all the boys carried toy guns). More photos from surrounding towns will follow...

A Lot of Bull

Took these recently in Fujairah, traditional 'bull fights' which take place on Friday evenings, right next to the city abatoir...

While on the topic of animals, further up the coast... marine conservation leaves a lot to be desired...

Brazil II

In the summer of 2005 I went back to work in Recife, for the winter (?). I stayed at D&K's flat in Boa Viagem, where I took some of these. The boats are at Calhetas beach.

After Recife, I took a break on the islands of Fernando do Noronha. Although this was mainly a diving holiday (50m+ viz), I managed to take a few snaps. I've since lost the RAW files of these when my hard drive crashed. Don't ask about back-up...[sigh]
