Jebel Akhdar

A few shots from Oman's 'Grand Canyon' - the spectacular Jebel Akhdar plateau near Nizwa. The full-sized version of the B&W one below is a stitched panoramic, the equivalent of an image from a 40MP camera. Definitely 4WD roads ...

Jebel Qatara

I've already posted a couple of shots taken from the plateau, but here's another. It's a great hike, but from a photography point of view, by the time you get to the top, the light is pretty flat and it's usually pretty hazy. Maybe need to camp out on the top? Day Trip from Sana'a

Mohamed, moonlighting from the Ministry of the Economy, took us to several places surrounding Sana'a, including Wadi Dhahr, Thula, Kawkaban, Habbah and Shibam. The light was harsh and flat for the most part, though the scenery was great; qat plantations, fortified villages and, of course, kids with toy guns ...
